The Benedictine Way is proud to be a member in the Episcopal Migration Response Network’s Rainbow Initiative. The Rainbow Initiative promotes support for LGBTQ+ people who have fled their country, city, or state because of persecution based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and/or sex characteristics. We are part of the organized effort to educate our community and surrounding communities about the plight of LGBTQ+ forced migrants, and raise support in our city, state of Nebraska, and beyond.
The Benedictine Way marches each year in the Heartland Pride Parade with the Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska, and hosts a booth at the Pride Festival. Learn more about Heartland Pride here. We recently participated in the Palm Sunday Path Faith Action event, standing “against the politics of greed, cruelty, and oppression by continuing to show the country that our central commandments, to love God and love our neighbors, is our way forward.”
