"Tables of Hope"
Supporting St. Benedict's Pantry
Join us at The Benedictine Way for a new summer fundraiser for our pantry and urban gardens, a dinner series called “Tables of Hope.”
The recent decline of community resources and government programs for those suffering from poverty has made the demand for our pantry increase, and at the same time it’s made stocking the pantry more expensive. With that in mind, as well as our general long term sustainability goals for the pantry, we’ve planned an additional fundraiser to support this vital ministry and continue setting “tables of hope” in our North Omaha community.
Join us for one of three delicious dinners, accompanied by a tour of one of our urban gardens and the food pantry.
June 19: Taste of the Philippines - Dive into Filipino cuisine with Oblate J.J. Ybay as he shares his heritage and cooking expertise with a spread of chicken adobo, pancit, lumpia (eggrolls), and more.
July 24: Bishop's BBQ - Join us in the gardens behind the monastery with grill master Bishop J. Scott Barker for a feast of barbeque classics: Stoysich sausages, roasted vegetables, Ted & Wally's ice cream, and more.
July 31: A Night in Italy - Escape to the heart of Italy with an evening of delicious pasta, homemade sauce, bread, and more, from the family recipes of our Prior, Br. James Dowd, OSB.
Each event begins at 6 PM and includes a tour of one of our gardens and the pantry, followed by dinner at the monastery (3020 Belvedere Blvd). Tickets are $50, and – should you wish – there will be an opportunity to donate more at the end of the dinner. You may view our flyer for more information and buy tickets here.
